Patchouli oil has it all!! Starting with the basics, it’s a superior astringent as well as an anti-inflammatory and diuretic- a Hat Trick of under-eye bag obliteration!! If your facial puffiness is caused by, say, a head cold- Patchouli Oil still has you covered. It’s an immune booster.
When it comes to skin care, this powerhouse treats fungal infections, eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis and the skin too- while boosting your immune system.
It’s also an insecticide. Not just a repellant…. Patchouli doesn’t just do half the job!
But the most amazing feature of Patchouli Essential oil, to me is that it evens skin tone by interacting with the skin’s melanin and stimulating the regeneration of new cells.
I started this list with Patchouli oil because it’s truly in my Top Ten Favorites. Not only is it wonderful for people with skin problems (Hi) but its also a great oil for all skin types. It moisturizes and deodorizes skin so its great in DIY Deodorant and body lotion. The Aroma is awesome and uplifting making it fabulous for Aromatherapy. I even use it on my dog, mixed with coconut oil to keep his skin clear and to keep bugs off of him in the summer.
Finally, it mixes nicely with Geranium, Bergamot, Clary Sage and Grapefruit as well as other oils.
I hope you enjoy this post and look forward to more about essential oils. Please leave a comment~ Do you use Patchouli Essential Oil? What type of applications? Have you used Incense or candles or other items scented with Patchouli?
I tried this…it doesn’t smell good on me for some reason. My daughter said I smelled like mud! I do use it in Incense though. 🙂

Patchouli is definitely “earthy” to say the least!! I actually make a body lotion with patchouli and Geranium. And it smells lovely. Geranium essential oil also helps heal wounds… It’s microbial and prevents infections from even developing, fades scars, and it’s a strong Astringent- so it tightens the skin. Like under the eyes, the neck…. It’s a lot like Patchouli oil in its benefits but an added bonus is that it revs circulation just below the skin surface and redistributes melanin. So it evens out your skin tone.
It’s known to regenerate new skin cells too! From what I’ve read, it’s used frequently in skin care products bc it has so many benefits.
